"Hello Peter
Uptown Events is the name of our group and we are are people on an "Events Managements" Course at CSV. This course is NDLC accredited and we are all individuals from different backgrounds and organisations who have a general interest in this type of opportunity. We have been meeting since this February under the tutelage of Cad Taylor learning about all the different aspects of Events and all the tricks of the trade.
The aim of this course is to gain a qualification, and to achieve this we have been tasked to organise and event of our own and use our new found skills practically. We decided to focus our event during "Adult Learners Week" as this would give us an audience. As you may know our event is this Thursday and we have various activities, entertainment and information we wish to celebrate on the day.
We all work closely in our own lives with local communities and have experience networking and joining in partnership. This Event is free for all and we have tried to cover almost every angle possible, however this is a massive task as we only meet once a week.
We do not have a website or web presence as this is a one off event for the beifit of the people of suffolk, and ourselves
Thanks you
Uptown Events Team

What I we make of this? The address is a massive building in Gt Whip Street and Ashley Maw seems to have a title so is this an employed position as Community Inclusion Facilitator? The idea seems brillaint but upon closer scrutiny it appears to be some kind of experiment. Obviously they are funded by us, as all these organisations are, but here with this event it seems we are spending a small fortune on good causes and employing people to do "good causes" which doesn't seem right somehow. If the county was overflowing with cash and everybody was in full employment maybe this would be acceptable but with so many people looking for work it just doesn't seem right to have people paid to organise people to compete with them free and drive their chances of employment down. It is especially wrong our money is being used to make this competition when those running the county are coining in such fantastic salaries and pensions.

About Me
- Peter Turtill
- I am 69 and have to use a wheelchair but I never allow this issue to interfere with anything I want to achieve. I would like young people and even those not yet born to be able to enjoy growing up in Ipswich as much as my generation did. We never stayed around the town or housing areas as we spent our time in the countryside doing what kids do and annoying nobody. We all learned to live off the land and to appreciate the countryside too. No drugs or alcohol needed to have a really good time and grow into mature adults. My wife and I spend our time as volunteers and we have spent many a happy day taking disabled people sailing on the River Orwell. We hope to expand this year with more boats.
